New Cookie Ingredient

Friday June 6, 2003
Back in the 1980s home economists were competing to see who could put the most outrageous ingredients into cookie recipes. The additions ranged from huge chunks of chocolate to chopped candy bars to savory herbs.

In a new Gold Medal cookbook I found a cookie ingredient I hadn't seen before: pretzels. Kids will love these cookies! For a project on the first day of summer vacation, make these cookies with your kids: Go Fish Cookies, which use tiny fish shaped pretzels, and Chunky Monster Cookies, which contain crushed pretzels, two kinds of chocolate chips, oats, and crushed cereal.
