Pears

Besides apples, pears are my favorite fall fruit. They are so perfect in and of themselves that a perfectly ripe pear can be an elegant dessert along with a wedge of blue or Brie cheese. But if you want to do more with pears than just eating them out of hand, try Pear and Blue Cheese Crostini, a fabulous appetizer, or Pear Salad, one of the best side salads I have ever made. The sweetness and juiciness of pears, combined with tangy blue cheese, makes a perfect taste sensation.
