Paul very kindly pointed out to me that there is an error in the Hot Water Pie Crust recipe. The recipe in the step by step instructions is fine, but this recipe had two cups of shortening. THAT IS INCORRECT. The corrected recipe should have these proportions for a double pie crust:
1 cup minus 2 Tbsp. shortening
1/4 cup hot water
1 Tbsp. milk
2-1/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
I apologize profusely for any problems any of you might have had. If you are looking at a bowl of mush right now, all you have to do is add more milk and flour until a dough forms. The dough will be a bit more tough, but it will still taste just fine.
