There are a few ways to get a good pizza crust at home. I've included a recipe for a yeast crust that can be made ahead of time. I like to let my pizza dough rise, then punch down, form into a crust, and prebake for about 10 minutes. This preserves the crust, makes it crunchier (a soggy pizza crust is a big no-no!), and also means you can have dinner on the table in minutes. If you don't want to make your own crust, you can buy refrigerated pizza dough, prebaked, seasoned thick crusts, or even use frozen bread dough, thawed and rolled to fit a pizza pan.
Get your kids to help with this dinner. They can choose their own toppings and you can divide the large pizza into sections, with each child choosing toppings for his or her own personal section.
A green salad out of a bag, with purchased dressing, a make-ahead fresh fruit and vegetable gelatin salad, and simple and delicious Cookie Brittle round out this menu. Enjoy Pizza Night!
Pizza for Dinner
- My Special Pizza
I love the zip that mustard adds to this pizza sauce. You can substitute bottled pizza sauce if you don't want to make your own, but the homemade sauce is just so easy! - green salad with purchased dressing
- Carrot and Pineapple Salad
This gelatin salad is sweet, crunchy, soft and tender The combination may sound kind of strange, but believe me, this recipe is delicious, and a cooling complement to the spicy pizza. - Cookie Brittle
This is a wonderful old-fashioned recipe that combines the flavors of chocolate chip cookies with the shape and crunch of brittles. It's crunchy, tender, and melting all at the same time. Yum.
