Crockpot Apple Compote

This delicious recipe must be stored in the refrigerator since it isn't processed in a hot water bath. Make it just before the holidays and give to your best friends.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Cook Time: 10 hours,

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced cooking apples
  • 6-oz. pkg. dried fruit bits
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. finely shredded orange peel
  • 1 Tbsp. quick cooking tapioca
  • 3/4 cup orange juice

Preparation:

Combine apples, fruit bits, sugar and orange peel in 3-4 quart crockpot. Sprinkle with tapioca and pour orange juice over all. Cover crockpot and cook on low heat for 8-10 hours until mixture is thickened and blended. Serve immediately, alone or over ice cream, or store in glass jars in refrigerator for 2-3 days. 8 servings

Combine all ingredients in 3-4 quart crockpot. Cover and cook on high for 4-1/2 to 5 hours until thickened and fruit is tender. Store in 4 oz. glass containers in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. 2 cups chutney - 8 four ounce containers
