Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausages
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green bell peppers, chopped
- 16 oz. can tomato puree
- 6 oz. can tomato paste
- 3 tomatoes, seeded and chopped
- 1 tsp. dried basil leaves
- 1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves
- 12 oz. fettuccine pasta
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Preparation:
In a large skillet, place sausages and water and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain sausages and continue cooking over medium heat until sausages begin to brown.Remove sausages from skillet and slice into 1-1/2" pieces. Return to skillet along with onion and green peppers. Cook and stir until vegetables are crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in tomato puree, tomato paste, tomatoes, basil, and thyme. Simmer 15-20 minutes until sausages are thoroughly cooked.
Meanwhile, cook fettuccine according to package directions and drain well. Serve sauce over fettuccine; top with Parmesan cheese. 6 servings
