From Renee van Hoy, for About.com

This delicious recipe for Passover comes from Renee Van Hoy. Please visit Renee's Tea Party for more fabulous ideas.

This not-so-traditional charoses recipe by the wonderful cookbook author Gil Marks, has become a new tradition for us in recent years. It keeps up to a week, covered and refrigerated.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup dried figs
  • 1/2 cup dried apricots
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1 medium MacIntosh apple
  • sweet red wine

Preparation:

In a food processor, finely chop the dates and half of the almonds. Remove to a bowl. Finely chop the figs and the remaining almonds. Remove. Chop the apricots. Remove. Chop the apple (a MacIntosh is nice for this.) Toss together in a bowl. If desired, add a little sweet wine. Refrigerate until 1/2 hour before serving. Makes 2 1/2 cups.
