Pile of Bones with Moldy Dip is a great Halloween appetizer. Or you can serve it as the "bread" for any meal around this time of year.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Yield: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1-2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup blue cheese, divided
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Unfold puff pastry. Cut apart at fold lines. Cut 3/4 of the pastry, how ever much you are using, into strips. Vary the length of the strips if you'd like for different sized "bones". Place the strips on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
Roll remaining pastry into small balls and press onto the strip edges to resemble bones.
Bake for 9-14 minutes, rotating cookie sheet once during baking time, until "bones" are puffed and light golden brown. Let cool 2 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool.
Meanwhile, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, and all but 1 tablespoon of the blue cheese and mix well. Place in serving bowl and sprinkle with reserved blue cheese. Serve dip with "bones".
