This delicious combination of sweet and spice flavors is a perfect five-ingredient recipe for an appetizer buffet and one that people actually expect! Crockpot little sausages will be a hit at your next party.

Make sure that you choose little smokies or little Vienna sausages. Those are the tiny, fat sausages that are pre-cooked but taste best when heated.

You can make this crockpot appetizer spicy or mild, depending on your tastes. Choose a spicy chili sauce and add some crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy version. Or, if you like it mild, don't add the red pepper and choose a milder sauce. We would add some chopped green or red bell peppers to the slow cooker along with the onion mixture for more color and flavor, but that would be more than five ingredients!

Serve this recipe with a big spoon and some little forks or toothpicks so people can eat them easily. They will be gobbled up in no time

Ingredients

  • 2 (14-ounce) packages fully cooked little smokies, or little Vienna sausages

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion

  • 1 cup apple jelly

  • 1 cup chili sauce

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

Steps to Make It

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. In a large nonstick skillet, brown sausages slightly in a couple of batches. Remove the sausages from the skillet as they brown and place in a 3 to 4-quart slow cooker.

  3. Then cook the onion in the same skillet in the pan drippings over medium heat until crisp-tender, about 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the apple jelly, chili sauce, and ketchup to the onions in the skillet and heat, stirring, until blended.

  4. Pour the onion mixture over the sausages in the slow cooker, cover, and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours. Serve from the crockpot.
