Beef Mushroom Burgers

By Linda Larsen, About.com

Use any type of mushroom you like in these easy burgers. Crimini or shiitake mushrooms would be delicious.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped mushrooms
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 English muffins, split and toasted

Preparation:

In heavy skillet cook mushrooms in olive oil until tender and brown. Add to ground beef along with garlic salt and mix gently. Form into four burgers, 1/2" thick, and refrigerate for 1-2 hours until firm.

Prepare and preheat grill. Cook burgers 4-6" from medium coals for 10-12 minutes, turning once, until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F. Top burgers with swiss cheese, cover grill, and cook for about 1 minute to melt cheese. Serve on split, toasted English muffins.
