Bread Machine Pizza Crust

By Linda Larsen, About.com

This easy recipe makes the bread machine do all the work. You just roll it out, top, and bake your own homemade pizza. Make sure you invest in a good pizza cutter if you're going to be making a lot of pizzas.

Prep Time: 3 hours, 10 minutes

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2-1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal

Preparation:

Place all ingredients in bread pan in order directed by bread machine instruction manual. Program dough cycle setting; press start. Remove dough when cycle ends; let rest 5 minutes.

Roll out dough to 14" circle. You may have to let the dough rest for a few minutes and roll again until it doesn't spring back to a smaller size. Place in greased 14" pizza pan. Cover crust and let rise 20 minutes until puffy. Use your fingers to dimple the dough.

Prebake the crust at 450 degrees for 6-8 minutes until light brown. Then top as desired and bake at 400 degrees for 15-25 minutes until toppings are heated and cheese is melted and bubbly.
