Fried Tostada Shells

By Linda Larsen, About.com

Fried Tostada Shells are a simple and classic way to make a base for tostadas or taco salads.

Cook Time: 2 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup peanut oil
  • 4-6 6-inch corn or flour tortillas

Preparation:

Place oil in large heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Heat until a drop of water placed carefully in the oil sizzles.

Add tortillas, one at a time, pushing down gently into the oil with tongs. Cook until browned on one side, about 1 minute, then turn and cook on the second side until browned and crisp, about 1 minute longer.

Drain on paper towels and keep warm in 250 degrees F oven until ready to assemble taco salads or tostadas.
