Check the food at about an hour before the shortest time given in the recipe. Once you know how your crockpot works, you'll be able to adjust cooking times. But make sure that the food is thoroughly cooked! Egg dishes should reach a temperature of 165 degrees F, and all meats should be thoroughly cooked. Taste oatmeal to make sure it's not hard and crunchy.
