Five Easy Ways to Turn Brownies into Dessert

By Linda Larsen, About.com

Take a pan of brownies, either made from scratch or a mix or ones you bought from a bakery, and turn them into rich and decadent desserts with these ideas and recipes. You can use any of my brownie recipes, or make one from a mix. Sometimes you can buy a pan of unfrosted brownies from a bakery for the fastest desserts. Be sure the brownies are completely cool before you start any of these recipes.

Brownies make a fabulous base for frozen desserts. Whether you layer ice cream, puddings, mousse, or custard on brownies for a frozen dessert, they will all be delicious and decadent.

4. Layer It!

A pan of brownies is a great beginning for a layered dessert, whether it's a trifle, a cake-like treat, or parfaits.

5. Skewer It!

Cut brownies into squares and skewer with everything from marshmallows to fruit to pound cake or angel food cake for a delicious dessert that's as fun to make as it is to eat. Serve with chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping, or drizzle with melted chocolate to finish.
