Candy Cake

Look at the size of your leftover Halloween treats and add them up to make the correct amount of candy needed for the batter and frosting.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 6.75 oz. Milky Way or Snickers candy bars, chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or peanuts (if using Snickers)
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • Frosting
  • 6.5 oz. Milky Way or Snickers candy bars, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2-4 Tbsp. cream

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour 13" x 9" cake pan and set aside.

In small saucepan, melt candy bars and 1/4 cup butter over low heat, stirring frequently until blended. Set aside to cool a bit.

In large bowl, beat sugar, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup softened butter until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly to incorporate each egg before adding the next. Add 2 tsp. vanilla and melted candy bar mixture and mix well.

Sift together flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately to egg mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Add nuts and chocolate chips and pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 40-50 minutes until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool completely on wire rack.

For Frosting, In medium saucepan, melt candy bars and butter, stirring frequently until blended. Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and 2 Tbsp. cream and beat until smooth. Add more powdered sugar or cream as necessary to make desired consistency. Spoon and spread frosting over cake. Cool completely. 16 servings

You can also bake this cake in a greased and floured 12" Bundt pan for 55-65 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then turn out onto serving plate. Drizzle with frosting when cooled.

i made this cake several yrs ago, but had misplace the cookbook i fd it in, so when i fd it on here, I was thrill to death..My children grandfather wanted this for his 29th birhtday,HAHA so he said. its a very delicious cake and very easy to make..its very rich but one of the most tasty cake i have ate. I would advise anyone to try this cake..you won't be disappointed!!!! i give this cake a 5 stars rating
