Super Quick and Easy Chocolates for Valentine's Day

The Top Ten

By , About.com Guide

You don't need to spend a lot of money for fancy chocolates for your sweetie this Valentine's Day. These ten super quick and easy recipes will satisfy any chocolate craving, and are as romantic and delicious as possible. Some take some time to set or cool or otherwise pull themselves together, but all take just a few minutes of hands-on time. Your sweetie (or sweeties) will love every bite!

1. Rocky Road Fudge Candy

I love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter. Who doesn't? Combine those and add lots of ingredients like mini marshmallows, pecans, and even more chocolate chips to make a fabulous candy everyone will love.

2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bonbons

This old-fashioned recipe combines peanut butter, dates, and chocolate. Now that may sound strange, but the combination is delicious and irresistible. I like to make the peanut butter mixture one day, then form the balls and dip them in chocolate the next. These are perfect snuggled into those little frilled candy cups for Valentine's Day.

3. Best Truffles

Wow - this truffle recipe, which I had lost and wanted for years, was finally returned to me when my sister got the recipe from my Aunt Carol Sue. The chocolate ganache (melted chocolate with cream) is chilled, then whipped before the little balls are formed, making these truffles absolutely melt in your mouth.

4. Chocolate Crunch Brownies

I've seen people bite into these brownies and swoon. They are incredible. A rich and velvety brownie is topped with chocolate frosting, then a chocolate crunch layer made with cereal and peanut butter. Wow.

5. Chocolate Pecan Caramel Pie

I think this is the coolest recipe ever. Melt chocolate chips in some purchased caramel ice cream topping sauce, then mix in pecans and pour into a purchased chocolate crumb crust. Top with whipped cream beaten with more caramel sauce, and you have a super rich pie that will impress anyone. Anyone!

6. Updated Chocolate Nut Toffee

If you have a lot of time (and patience), Chocolate Nut Toffee is fabulous. But if you live in the real world, this recipe, which starts with graham crackers, ends up as fabulous crunchy toffee with tons of chocolate.

7. Easiest Fudge in the World

Yes, this is the easiest fudge in the world. You can fancy it up with chopped nuts, chopped candy, or marshmallows if you'd like. The variations are infinite - make three or four batches!

8. No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

This is one of the first recipes I ever made. I fiddled with the ratio of ingredients a bit to make it richer and smoother. I think they're perfect! Follow the directions carefully and you'll love them too.

9. Chocolate Filled Angel Food Cake

An angel food cake, some pudding mix, whipping cream, and a few other ingredients are all you need to make this spectacular dessert. You don't need to bake a thing or cook anything; just whip a few ingredients together and assemble the cake. Yum.

10. Microwave Chocolate Crisp Bars

This recipe is adapted slightly from one of my cookbooks. The kids in my husband's English class love it - I try to make it (or another treat) for them at least once a week. Yum.
