Chocolate Cupcake Trifle

By Linda Larsen, About.com

Chocolate Cupcake Trifle is made with hardly any work, using prepared pudding, bakery cupcakes, and some luscious chopped candy. The pudding is those 4-ounce cups you buy in packs; just dump them into a bowl and get working.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 (14-ounce) packages prepared chocolate pudding
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 (12-ounce) package frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 dozen frosted chocolate cupcakes
  • 1 (8-ounce) package peanut butter cups or chocolate covered caramels

Preparation:

In large bowl, combine the pudding with the mascarpone cheese. Fold in 1/2 cup of the frozen whipped topping and set aside.

Crumble one-third of the cupcakes, including the frosting, into a large glass bowl. Top with one-third of the pudding mixture and one-third of the remaining whipped topping. Sprinkle with candy.

Repeat layers, ending with candy. Cover and refrigerate for 2-24 hours before serving. Serves 12-14
