Fudgy Peanut Butter Cake


Fudgy Peanut Butter Cake is a rich and delicious sheet cake frosted with two frostings.

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour

Yield: Serves 16-20


  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1-1/4 cups peanut butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 recipe Peanut Butter Fudge Frosting


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9" x 13" pan with nonstick baking spray containing flour; set aside.

In small bowl, combine cocoa powder with hot water; mix well and set aside.

In large bowl, combine butter and 1/3 cup peanut butter; beat until smooth. Beat in brown sugar and granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in cocoa and water mixture, then beat in eggs, one at a time.

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add alternately to butter mixture with the whole milk. Stir in vanilla. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake for 25-35 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

While cake is in oven, beat together 1-1/4 cups peanut butter, powdered sugar, and milk. When cake comes out of oven, cool 10 minutes, then spread peanut butter mixture over cake. Cool completely on wire rack. When cool, frost with Peanut Butter Fudge Frosting. Cut into squares to serve.
