Crockpot Chocolate Steamed Pudding

Steamed desserts have a texture that is a cross between pudding and cake; try it!

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 3 hours

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup fine dry purchased UNseasoned breadcrumbs
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp.salt
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
  • 4 oz. semisweet chocolate, melted
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation:

In a large bowl, combine butter and sugar and beat well until fluffy. Add egg and mix well. In small bowl, combine dry bread crumbs, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add this mixture alternately with milk to egg mixture. Add melted chocolates and vanilla and stir gently.

Grease a 1 quart mold or pan with solid shortening or unsalted butter. Pour batter into prepared mold and cover with foil. Tie securely with white string. Place trivet or metal rack in a 4 quart crockpot and place mold on top. Pour 2 cups hot water around the mold. Cover crockpot and cook on HIGH for 2-3 hours until almost set. Serve hot, spooning into bowl and serving with flavored whipped cream. Serves 4-6
