Crockpot Baked Apples

By Linda Larsen, About.com

This classic and homey dessert cooks happily all by itself in your crockpot or slow cooker. You could core the apples and stuff them with some raisins or nuts before cooking if you'd like.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 4 hours,

Ingredients:

  • 6 large cooking apples
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tsp. grated orange rind
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Preparation:

Remove core from apples and peel a strip around the top of the apple to help prevent cracking. Arrange apples in 3-4 quart crockpot. In large bowl, combine orange juice, rind, cider, cinnamon and brown sugar and mix to blend. Pour over apples. Cover crockpot and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until apples are tender. Cool slightly and serve warm with sweetened whipped cream. 6 servings
