Tortilla Sundae

By , About.com Guide

Bake tortilla shells until crisp, cool, and fill with ice cream and toppings for a festive dessert recipe.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Cook Time: 2 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 8 (8 inch) flour tortillas
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ice cream
  • ice cream toppings
  • whipped cream
  • chopped nuts
  • chopped fruit

Preparation:

You can purchase already formed tortilla shells at the grocery store and bake them according to package directions instead of making your own shells. Or soften tortillas in the microwave oven and sprinkle with oil. Drape each over a greased oven proof custard cup. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees F for 6-9 minutes until crisp. Remove from oven, gently pry off cups, and place on wire rack.

Combine powdered sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle over the warm tortilla shells. Let cool completely.

Set out on a platter with sundae ingredients and let your family and guests assemble their own sundaes. Serves 8
