English Muffin Grilled Cheese Sandwich

English Muffin Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Linda Larsen
English Muffin Grilled Cheese Sandwiches takes advantage of one the best features of the English muffin - all those crevices fill with melted cheese, while the outside gets crisp and toasty. Yum.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 8 minutes

Total Time: 13 minutes

Yield: 4 sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • 4 English muffins, split with fork
  • 10 slices American cheese
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened

Preparation:

Split English muffins and place, split side up, on work surface. Cover half with the cheese, using 2-1/2 slices per muffin and tearing and fitting cheese to fit. Make sandwiches. Butter the outsides of the English muffins.

Grill over medium heat, covering sandwiches, pressing down lightly with a spatula, and turning once, until cheese is melted and muffins are toasted. You can also cook these on a panini grill.

Fabulous idea!, Guest Ann

My kids would live off grilled cheese sandwiches if I'd let them. They loved this recipe and I did too. Now I keep English muffins and cheese in the fridge and they make them whenever they want! Great for an after school snack.
