Give this wonderful Homemade Cookie Mix along with cookie cutters and the recipes for a Christmas gift.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Yield: 9 cups

  • 6 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup solid vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup butter

In large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until blended. Cut in shortening and butter with pastry blender, two knives or your hands until the mixture resembles cornmeal and shortening and butter are evenly distributed.

Store in the refrigerator in a tightly covered container for up to 12 weeks. When you want to make cookies, measure amount needed and let it come to room temperature before using.

NOTE: You don't use the whole mix in the recipes; you use the amount specified in each individual recipe below. The amounts of flour and sugar are correct. And you can use the mix anytime in the 12 weeks you store it in the fridge.

Delicious and super easy, Guest

I make a batch of this cookie mix every month, and then the kids can make cookies whenever they want. It's super easy, stores well, and makes wonderful cookies. Just make sure you measure it by spooning the mix into a measuring cup until it's level with the top. don't scoop the mix out of the container with a cup or you'll get too much.
