Split Pea Soup Mix Recipes

Make your own Split Pea Soup Mix.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups dried green split peas
  • 6 cups small macaroni pasta, like shells or alphabet
  • 3 cups rice
  • 5 cups pearl barley
  • 5 cups lentils
  • 3 cups dry minced onion

Preparation:

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl so they are evenly distributed. Store in an air-tight container.

To make soup, add 1-1/3 cups mix to 6 cups water along with 1-1/2 tsp. salt in a large stockpot. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer soup for 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Add 2 sliced carrots, 2 stalks chopped celery, 1-1/2 cups shredded cabbage, two 15-oz. cans of tomato sauce, and 1-24 ounce can of vegetable juice cocktail. Simmer for 20 minutes, until vegetables are tender. Serves 6-8
