Mint, yogurt, and feta cheese provide the flavors of Greece in these easy and delicious grilled burgers.

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped red onion
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. white pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh dill weed
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh mint leaves
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • tomato slices

I made these for my family and everyone loved them -- even my sister, who's an incredibly picky eater. The burgers themselves are delicious and I will definitely make them again. I gave a slight twist on them, serving them more like gyros -- I cut the pitas in half, opened the pocket, I put in lettuce the hamburger (cut into strips, about half a burger to each pita half), topped it with the tzatziki sauce (use less mint than the recipe calls for unless you really love mint!), then put on sliced tomato and thinly sliced cucumber. Also, I would recommend putting a little lemon juice in the tzatziki (put about 1/2 teaspoon in for every 8 oz of yoghurt).
