Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 17 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup finely minced onion
- 1/4 cup dried bread crumbs
- 1 Tbsp. finely grated lime peel
- 2 tsp. lime juice
- 1 tsp. dried thyme leaves
- 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 lb. lean ground pork
- 1 red onion, sliced
- 8 slices french bread, 1" thick
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 tomatoes, sliced
Preparation:
Grill, covered, 4-6" from medium coals for 15-18 minutes, until no longer pink in center, or internal temperature reaches 160 degrees, turning once. Grill onions for last 10 minutes of cooking time until golden brown, turning once.
Brush french bread slices with olive oil and grill for 2-3 minutes, turning once. Serve burgers and onions between grilled bread slices. 4 sandwiches
Note: Thank you for reviewing my recipe! You're right, the burgers do need more moisture. I've added a sauteed onion and some bread crumbs to the pork. Adding hoisin sauce and ginger is a great idea.
