Grilled Steak Avocado Tomato Salad

Grilled Steak Avocado Tomato Salad

Linda Larsen
This Labor Day, celebrate with this delicious dinner menu cooked on the grill. A steak is a great way to end the summer with style. Top it with a salsa using the fruits of the season, and serve with some grilled corn on the cob.

My favorite grilled breadsticks, which are fun to serve and eat, along with a selection of ice cream desserts rounds out the meal. Enjoy the last blast of summer with family and friends.

Labor Day on the Grill Menu

Grilled Steak with Avocado Tomato Salad
Use the ripest avocado and juiciest tomatoes you can find in this simple recipe. As in all cooking recipes, you can substitute your favorite ingredients for anything in the salad. Yum.

Grilled Corn on the Cob
There is a controversy about removing the silk or not when preparing the corn. I prefer to remove it just because it makes a neater presentation. And I like to just dig into my corn, rather than fuss with removing silk. Serve with lots of softened butter.

Melon Berry Salad
For the last feast of summer, serve some of the best fruits of summer. Sweet melons, juicy strawberries, and tart blueberries make a fabulous salad.

Basil Cheese Breadsticks
An unsliced loaf of sourdough bread is cut into individual sticks, but kept together at the base, kind of like those popular deep-fried onions in restaurants. These hot breadsticks are delicious.

Crispy Ice Cream Pie
I love the combination of textures and flavors in this dessert. You do have to make it ahead of time, since the ice cream has to freeze again, but that's true of all ice cream desserts.

Sherbet Roll
Any two (or three!) flavors of sherbet are formed into a 'cake' roll in this fun and easy make-ahead dessert.
