Grilled Steak Asparagus Salad

By Linda Larsen, About.com

This elegant salad takes just minutes to prepare and grill on a dual contact grill. It's special enough for company.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup olive oil vinaigrette salad dressing
  • 1/3 cup steak sauce
  • 1 lb. beef boneless sirloin steak
  • 1/2 lb. asparagus spears
  • 1 thinly sliced red bell pepper
  • 10 oz. pkg. prepared mixed salad greens
  • 1 Tbsp. toasted sesame seeds

Preparation:

In small bowl, combine vinaigrette and steak sauce and blend to mix well. Place steak in glass baking dish and cover with 1/4 cup of the vinaigrette mixture. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight, turning once during marinating. Cover and reserve remaining vinaigrette mixture.

Prepare and preheat two sided grill. Remove steak from marinade and discard marinade. Cook for 7-9 minutes for medium, or to desired doneness. Let steak stand for a few minutes, then thinly slice steak across the grain. While slicing steak, cook asparagus spears on grill for 2-4 minutes until tender.

Arrange sliced steak, grilled asparagus and red pepper on lettuce. Pour reserved vinaigrette mixture over salad and sprinkle with sesame seed. Serve immediately. 4 servings
