Picnics are a wonderful part of the warm weather months. So why not take Mom on a picnic for Mother's Day this year? Picnics are more low-key than making lunch at home. Make sure you pack the picnic basket with food safety in mind, and bring along lots of wet wipes for dirty hands.

If the weather won't cooperate, have your picnic at home. Eat on the porch if you can, or in the rec room. Just spread out a big blanket and set out all the food. Then dig in and enjoy the day with Mom.

Mother's Day Picnic by the Lake Menu

  • Ham and Cheese Sandwiches
These easy sandwiches are filled with lots of vegetables, which we all know Mom wants us to eat. The recipe calls for ham and chicken. You can use both, or pick one.
  • Marinated Green Bean Salad
Green bean salad is a picnic staple. This easy recipe adds peas, corn, celery, and red bell pepper for more color and crunch.
  • Best Lemonade
The best lemonade starts with whole lemons. This easy recipe is perfect.
  • Kris' Famous Sweet Potato Salad
Make a sweet potato salad instead of regular potato salad to add interest and color to the menu. I love this super simple recipe; it starts with canned sweet potatoes!
  • Caramel Cream Cookies
Sweet, tender, and rich cookies are the perfect choice for a picnic. These easy cookies are perfect for Mom.
  • Chewy Picnic Bars
Every picnic deserves at least two kinds of cookies, in my opinion. But you can make one or the other; it's up to you!
