Creamy Tomato Pasta

Creamy Tomato Pasta

Linda Larsen
Creamy Tomato Pasta is a super easy five ingredient main dish recipe that adds cream cheese to a classic tomato and spaghetti dish. When I made this for the picture, I added minced garlic and some Parmesan cheese.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Yield: 4-6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (26-ounce) jar tomato pasta sauce
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (16-ounce) package whole wheat spaghetti
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, cubed

Preparation:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir until tender, about 5-6 minutes.

Add pasta sauce to onion mixture. Add water to empty jar; close jar and shake to loosen rest of pasta sauce; add to skillet along with undrained tomatoes. Bring to a simmer.

Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente.

A few minutes before the spaghetti is done, add cream cheese to pasta sauce; cook and stir until cheese melts and sauce is creamy.

Drain pasta and add to skillet with sauce; toss for a few minutes, then serve.

Wow!, Guest Ronnie

This was so easy and so good. The kids just loved it. The cream cheese tones down the sharpness of the tomato sauce and makes the whole dish so rich and delicious. Definitely a keeper!
