Nut Cookie Crust

By Linda Larsen, About.com

This crust can be used for any sweet pie where the filling is baked along with the crust. It's very simple and has a wonderful flavor and texture.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1-1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda

Preparation:

Cream together butter and brown sugar. Add remaining ingredients until crumbly. Press crumbs against bottom and sides of 9" pie place, building up a 1/2" rim. Fill with desired filling and bake as directed in pie recipes.

Or you can bake the crust by first pricking it with a fork, then baking at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes until light golden brown and set.
