Cheesy Crockpot Tortellini

Linda Larsen
This delicious Italian meal is made in your crockpot using only five ingredients.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 8 hours

Total Time: 8 hours, 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. bulk Italian sausage
  • 26 oz. jar pasta sauce
  • 14 oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 tsp. dried Italian seasoning
  • 9 oz. pkg. refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 1 cup shredded pizza cheese OR grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation:

Cook sausage in heavy skillet over medium heat until browned, about 10 minutes. Stir sausage frequently to break up as it cooks. Drain well and place in 4-5 quart slow cooker. Add pasta sauce, tomatoes, and Italian seasoning and stir well.

Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours. Then stir in tortellini, cover again and cook on low for 20-40 minutes or until pasta is tender and heated. Sprinkle with cheese and let stand 5 minutes before serving. 4 servings

I was looking for a pasta recipe that didn't require cooking the pasta in advance. This one was very easy to make. I didn't have eight hours to cook it on slow, so I cooked it on high for 3 1/2 before adding the tortellini. It seemed thick so I splashed in a little water. It was absolutely delicious. Guests raved and raved and asked for the recipe. Next time I will try precooked Italian sausage so I don't have to brown it first.
