Now make the frosting. Combine 3 ounces softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons softened butter, 2-1/2 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 tablespoons heavy cream in a bowl and beat until smooth. Generously frost each coffee cake. You can sprinkle each with 1/4 to 1/3 cup sliced almonds or chopped pecans if you'd like. Slice by cutting directly across each coffee cake, and enjoy with a cup of coffee.
