- 8 cups cubed whole wheat bread
- 3 cups chicken or turkey broth
- 2/3 cup uncooked wild rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 cup dried cherries
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon dried marjoram leaves
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
In 4-5 quart crockpot, combine broth, wild rice, onion, and garlic. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours. Stir gently.
Add celery, cherries, butter, marjoram, thyme, salt, and pepper to crockpot and stir to coat. Add bread cubes and stir until coated. Be careful, because the crockpot will be hot.
Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours longer or until the stuffing registers 160 degrees F.
