Pecan Pie

This classic pie is rich and delicious; enjoy.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 9" pie shell, unbaked
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup pecan halves

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Make pie crust and set aside. Beat sugars, butter, corn syrup, salt, eggs, and vanilla in medium bowl with wire whisk or hand beater until well blended. Stir in both kinds of pecans and pour filling into pastry-lined pie plate.

Bake at 375 degrees F for 40 to 50 minutes or until center is set and pie crust is golden brown. Cool on wire rack before slicing. 8 servings

I have been making this pecan pie recipe since 1958 when my Home Economics Teacher in High School gave it to me. I had misplaced it about 5 years ago and have not baked a pecan pie since then. I couldn't remember all the ingredients, but thanks to you, I can start baking it again. This is the best pecan pie recipe because it's not too sweet. I love it.
