The new school year is almost here! Take some time this weekend to get ready. Back to school sales are going on right now so make a couple of list of the things your kids need and hit the stores. With these easy recipes and menus, you'll have more time to get organized for the new school year. And make some freezable breakfast and lunch recipes in the bargain!

Savor this time with your kids. Before you know it they'll be ready for college. Make the start of the new school year special and they'll remember your efforts when they have their own kids.

Saturday Breakfast

You need a good breakfast to get ready for the day's activities! This is a great menu for back to school too.

These cute little cups are formed with thin slices of ham and filled with a cheesy vegetable and egg mixture.
  • Orange juice, milk, and coffee
  • Quick Coffee Cake
I love this super easy recipe for coffeecake. It really only takes 10-15 minutes to put together. And it's so good served warm from the oven.

Make Ahead Freezable Breakfast Recipes

Make some space in your freezer for these easy recipes. Then on a super hectic school morning, you just stroll to the freezer, pull out some food, and microwave it for a hot and nutritious breakfast in seconds!

  • Freezer Breakfast Burritos
These slightly spicy and warming burritos are a real treat. They're like fast food, but better tasting and better for you!

I crave these sandwiches sometimes late at night when fast food commercials appear. Luckily, I have these in the freezer, so I can satisfy that craving! Your kids will love this recipe.
  • Corn Waffles
Add some corn kernels to a corn muffin mix to make some fabulous corn waffles! These take a few seconds to reheat in the toaster. Serve 'em with warmed maple syrup. Yum.

Any muffin recipe freezes really well. These quick and easy recipes include Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins, Oat Bran Muffins, and Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins.

Saturday Lunch

I love the combination of mint and melon. This easy salad is beautiful, delicious, and so good for you.
  • Cookie Brittle
This is another great freeze ahead recipe for school (or work!) lunch boxes. Nibble on a few now, then pack the rest away. (Label the package "codfish balls" or something so the kids don't raid it.)

Saturday Night Supper

  • Grilled Chicken Bruschetta
Take advantage of late summer produce with this beautiful and quick entree recipe. Juicy chicken is topped with a fragrant bruschetta topping.

Might as well cook a side dish on the grill too! This recipe is full of flavor.

This beautiful salad is delicious and nutritious; the perfect complement to the potatoes and chicken.
  • Ice Cream Tartlets
Let your kids make this recipe while you get the rest of the meal ready. These tartlets taste like so much more than the sum of the ingredients!

Sunday Brunch

  • Stuffed French Toast Bake
After dinner is done on Saturday night, make this recipe and refrigerate it. Then just bake it in the morning!
  • Baked Bacon
Bake your bacon instead of frying it! No mess, no fuss, and perfectly cooked bacon every time.
  • Citrus Cooler
Instead of ordinary orange or grapefruit juice, serve this yummy cold beverage.

Make Ahead Freezable Lunch Recipes

Make sure that you wrap and label foods you put in the freezer. Then record what's in those packages in a little notebook you keep right next to the freezer. These recipes will thaw and be ready to eat in time for lunch. (Well, the soups need to be reheated, but all the work is done ahead of time!)

  • Ham Salad Wraps
Deviled ham spread is the secret ingredient in these delicious freeze ahead sandwiches.
  • Tex Mex Pita Sandwich
If your child likes tacos, they'll love this special sandwich. Make them as mild or spicy as you like.
