Stew recipes are some of the easiest to make. And they're perfect as the days get shorter and colder. There's nothing better than coming home to a house filled with the aroma of a beef stew simmering in your crockpot. And stews can be made quickly too! Just use a really good boxed stock and it will taste like it's been simmering for hours. Stew is perfect for the beginning cook. Just throw everything into a pot and let it cook. Yum.
1. Best Crockpot Beef Stew
This stew is a combination of several different recipes I liked. It's so delicious. I think marjoram is the best herb to use with beef. Its lemony and grassy flavor really brings out the meatiness of this stew.
2. Garlic Barley Chicken Stew
This stew is a wonderful combination of textures and flavors. Barley is so delicious: tender and nutty, it's good for you too. Combine that with chicken, corn, and lots of garlic in a rich and savory stew and you have a winner!
3. Slow Cooker Fajita Stew
My homemade Fajita Seasoning Mix, together with rich beef and lots of peppers and onions, makes this stew special. It really does taste like a fajita in stew form! Serve it with guacamole and some shredded Pepper Jack cheese for a special finish.
4. Meatball Stew En Casserole
If you really want to make something special from scratch, try the original version of this recipe. But that takes hours! Believe me, when I streamlined this recipe I was very critical of the outcome. And I think the quick version is just as good as the original.
5. Sweet and Sour Meatball Stew
This fabulous stew also cooks in the crockpot. It has such wonderful flavor. I love the addition of pineapple in the recipe. It adds a special touch of sweetness that contrasts beautifully with the sour vinegar.
6. Meatball Corn Stew
This easy, cheesy stew is perfect served with a hot pan of cornbread. Top it with sour cream and some chopped chives for the perfect fall dinner.
