Top 10 Candy Recipes

Spoil Your Sweetie!

By , About.com Guide

I think that homemade candies are the most indulgent recipes of all. Since candy is so easy to buy, making it yourself is a really special touch. And it's less expensive! Once you understand how to work with chocolate, you'll have such fun in the kitchen! These foolproof recipes are luscious, decadent, and will really show you care. And don't forget to check out my favorite chocolate recipes for Valentine's Day (or any day), which includes a cake, pie, and cookies. Yum.

1. Nut Goody Bars

If you like Nut Goodie candy bars, you'll swoon over these. The pan holding the finished candies weighs about ten pounds. You really should try this recipe once in your lifetime.

2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bonbons

And this recipe is actually good for you! Well, dark chocolate is good for you: check. Dates are full of antioxidants: check. Nuts have great healthy fats: check. And peanut butter is a good source of protein and vitamins: check. Put them all together for a fabulous treat.

3. Rocky Road Fudge Candy

This recipe, too, is a combination of several that weren't quite what I was looking for. If you like rocky road candy, this is the recipe for you. It's super rich and creamy, with a fabulous smooth and crunchy texture.

4. Peanut Butter Cup Bars

This recipe, which is a combination of several different recipes that weren't quite what I was looking for, is sublime. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are, of course, the inspiration for this candy. A crisp peanut base is layered with creamy sweetened peanut butter filling, then topped with a thick layer of chocolate melted with peanut butter.

5. Easiest Fudge in the World

Easiest FudgeLinda Larsen

This has to be one of the easiest recipes ever. You can vary the recipe by using different combinations of chocolate chips. Add some vanilla if you'd like, or chopped candy bars, or nuts. It's fabulous!

6. Updated Chocolate Nut Toffee

If you have time, please try making real Chocolate Nut Toffee. That's another one of those recipes everyone should make once in a lifetime. But if you don't feel like tackling a more difficult recipe, this one is more than adequate. It's sweet, crunchy, buttery, and chocolatey.

7. Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Bark

This simple candy recipe uses only three ingredients. When I made it the last time, I used some semisweet chocolate just for a little extra edge. It's super easy to make and delicious to eat.

8. Best Truffles

Best TrufflesLinda Larsen

I will put these truflfes up against any truffles in the world. I've made these many times and have never had a failure. Make sure you measure the chocolate chips correctly (I sometimes put in a few more just to be sure) and you'll soon be biting into the creamiest, meltiest truffles ever. (If for some weird reason [a full moon?] the chocolate mixture doesn't harden, just pour it into a pie shell and freeze it for a super indulgent pie!)

9. Cooked Fudge

This is an old, old family recipe. We used to use it to top Brownies instead of ordinary chocolate frosting. Boy, that is a treat! But the recipe is perfect all by itself. It has the perfect fudge consistency: creamy and soft, but with a slight caramel chew. And it melts in your mouth.

10. Crockpot Chocolate Drops

Make some candy in your crockpot! This super easy recipe has some good-for-you ingredients in it, but you can add anything you'd like. They're so pretty nestled in some ruffled paper cups in a heart shaped box.
