Crockpot Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken
This unusual crockpot chicken recipe sounds improbable, but try it - you'll love it! And of course the recipe is sweet - there's 1 cup of brown sugar in it!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 8 hours

Total Time: 8 hours, 15 minutes

Yield: 4-6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 lbs. chicken pieces
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup lemon lime soda
  • 2-3 Tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. pepper

Preparation:

Place chicken in slow cooker. Mix all remaining ingredients and pour over chicken. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. Serve over rice or noodles.

Making it a Second Time!, Member leonbuck

I rated the taste according to the first time I made it when I followed the directions to a T! :o) I agree with the others who said the cooking time was too long, (but the taste was good). This time I added more liquid, (half of a canned beer which was left over from a recipe last night, a little more than 1/4 cup of Fresca, and 2 T lemon juice). I also used boneless, skinless chicken thighs. I fiddled around with the Crock Pot so it can cook that long, but with even lower than a low setting. It worked really well, and even though I had plenty of juice this time, I scooped it onto some rice, and the flavor was wonderful. I would definitely make this again!
