Beer Yeast Batter Bread

By Linda Larsen, About.com

This wonderfully yeasty and tender bread is quick and very easy to make.

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 egg

Preparation:

Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan and set aside. In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, caraway, salt, and yeast and mix to blend. In small saucepan, combine beer, butter and honey and heat to very warm. Pour into flour mixture along with egg. Mix to blend, then beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

Stir down dough and pour into prepared pan. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes, then bake in a preheated 375 degrees F oven for 30-35 minutes until bread is deep golden brown. Remove from pan and cool until warm before slicing.
