Ingredients:
- 1 pkg. hot roll mix OR 4 cups Homemade Hot Roll Mix
- 1 pkg. yeast, if using Homemade Hot Roll Mix
- 3/4 cup medium rye flour
- 1-1/2 tsp. caraway seed
- 1/2 tsp. instant coffee granules
- 1-1/4 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 egg white, slightly beaten
- 1/2 tsp. caraway seed
Preparation:
Divide dough in half and form each into a 12" baguette shape. Place seam side down on prepared cookie sheet and let rise for 45 minutes, until light and doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut three slashes in each loaf with a very sharp knife. Brush each loaf with egg white and sprinkle with 1/2 tsp. caraway seed. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes until deep golden brown.
