Are newer crockpots hotter?
- They are! I had a crockpot from 30 years ago that I replaced with a newer one. It consistently burned the food. I gave it away and started using the old one again.

No I do not
- It splatters all over the counter and makes a mess, worse yet, I can never figure out when something is going to be done. I give up!

Really depends on which crockpot you buy
- I have a new crockpot that has three types of cooking methods: Manual, Program, and Probe. The Probe mode uses a temp. probe inserted into the meat and prevents over cooking, as when the center of the meat is at the correct temp, the crockpot switches over to warm mode.

I like my old crock pot, I have had two.
- I think the crock pots should stay the way they were. They get plenty hot enough. If we wanted them hotter we could cook in the oven. I am usually home when I use the crock pot so I can check on everything inside and adjust the heat as well. Don't try to fix something when it isn't broken!

Hot Crockpots! NO!
- If I wanted to boil my food I would do it on the top of my stove. I really wish the government would stop making decisions for me!

Bronwen

Rita
- I hate the new crock pots. Everything is boiled not slowly cooked. I used the old ones for years and loved them, just didn't like washing it. I contacted the rival people and they told me to fill the crock pot 2/3 rds full with liquid. But it still boils.

loss of convenience
- they do cook to hot for 8 hr cooking and I work at least 8 hrs in a day so food is overcooked. I had to set my for 6 hrs and warmed for the other 2 until I get home. I don't know if I'm doing the right thing??

I prefer the old "slow" cookers!
- I'm with jcthshepjord - I didn't realize that they had changed the machines, so I thought my new ones weren't working properly! I much prefer the old slow style - I don't like these new high heat machines at ALL. Unfortunately both of my old machines have now been replaced with the new deproved versions :(

NO MORE RIVAL CROCK POTS FOR ME!!!
- I bought a fancy Rival from Costco and it burned my trusty standby boeuf bourginon (sp) more than once. After the 2nd time I realized it was the pot and not me. I wrote to Rival and they basically told me it was user error. I quickly returned it to Costco and though I had the item for a year, they gave me a full refund. Costco pulled the item from their warehouses for quite some time, but now they are carrying a Rival again. There was a Rival crockpot set that had 3 crocks all on one unit which seemed like a great idea, but I'm done with Rival. I'll keep the 3 old ones I have. Not crazy about the colors, but at least I know, no more burnt food!!!

just to hot
- i agree i purchased a new crockpot last year and i thought something was the matter because everything cooked so much faster. no i know the answer.give me the old crockpot back

crockpot
- I doubt if very many people ever got sick from food in a crockpot that was fresh when it went it. The gov. has gone crazy with all their food safety when all it really takes is a bit of common sense!! I have used my old one thousands of times, it still cooks perfectly, and no, I have never had anyone with food poisoning!

NO
- I want to use it during the week when I work and even on low the food is overcooked and often burned. When I made soup last weekend on low, it was boiling when I checked on it after 4 hours.

Too Hot
- I don't like the hotter temperature! Food that I cook frequently burns. My old crockpot tempurature was just right!

Nohotcrocks
- I use my crockpot for meals to arrive home to after a long day at work. These hotter models usually burn the food or turn it to mush!
